Some pieces emerge out of a very real personal experience. This is one of those. During a walk in a field, a white horse singled me out of my group of friends, walked right to me and rested his head on my chest. We shared a beautiful moment that moved me profoundly. I am not a horse person, I have no experience with them, but the week before, I was told by one of my students that horses love being with us. That came as a surprise to me and changed my view of them. It’s like that white horse knew I was finally ready for this.
